Today Apple has released iOS 5.0.1 for iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. iOS 5.0.1 includes Fixes bugs affecting battery life, Adds Multitasking signals for original iPad, Resolves bugs with Documents in the Cloud and also develops voice recognition for Australian users using dictation. iOS 5.0.1 is available for iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPad 2 Wi-Fi, CDMA iPad 2G, GSM iPad 2G, iPad 1G, iPod touch 4G and iPod touch 3G. So if you do not rely on jailbreaking and unlocking, then go ahead and update to iOS 5.0.1 and below is the procedure which will help you to download and install iOS 5.0.1 firmware on your iDevice.
Download iOS 5.0.1 for your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch
Connect your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch to your PC
Start iTunes if it hasn’t started automatically.
From iTunes click on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch from the device list
Hold down the Shift key and click on Update button
Now browse and select the downloaded iOS 5.0.1 firmware update file and click on Open
iTunes will do the rest of job to update the firmware to iOS 5.0.1
Download iOS 5.0.1 for your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch
Connect your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch to your Mac
Start iTunes if it hasn’t started automatically.
From iTunes click on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch from the device list
Hold down the Options key and click on Update button
Now browse and select the downloaded iOS 5.0.1 firmware update file and click on Open
iTunes will do the rest of job to update the firmware to iOS 5.0.1
It will may take some time for iTunes to complete the updating of your iDevice firmware to iOS 5.01. During this process do not disconnect your iDevice until the update is completed.
